I should have known that happiness wouldn’t last long once those words of joy were uttered. Like the opening of a brand new can of coffee, you smell its freshness and feed on the taste of caffeine in it. But it doesn’t last long once opened and as time goes by, the joy eventually fades and soon only the happy memories remains.
It is said that is enough – the memory is proof of good times, but how can it be when the epilogue was so sad? The only way to avoid the pain is to disregard it, but if you did, wouldn’t that be denying reality?
The woes of memories, you cannot have the good ones without the bad ones – It’s a package deal.
