Fun with Nikon ais 50mm f/1.2

I had a rad time yesterday playing the 50mm f/1.2 with my D700. Here are some shoots of it taking when I was out with some friends yesterday.

Its definitely a lens worth learning how to use well. Though the only drawback it has is that its only manual focus. So focusing with a camera that doesn’t use a split screen can be quite tricky at first but you get used to it after a while.

  1. I wonder if it’s something to do with full-frames but I’ve since noticed a bit of underexposure, possibly due to vignetting wide open.

And wow, the D-Lighting effect is easy to detect. Gotta love how #4 separates and pops!

  2. Nice shots. I love the 50mm 1.2 . I think Nikon uses a little magic in that lens. I’ve been using one on a D200, and focusing is even harder than with that nice big viewfinder on the D700 🙂
