AFA X 2010 Singapore Day 3

Date: 14th November 2010

Here we are again with the report for day 3, I should have taken a Monday off that way I wouldn’t be in such a rush.

Anyway, we were only planning to attend the Regional Cosplay Championship for a short while then continue our way checking more cosplayers. So we paid a nice visit to Kinokuniya at Takashimaya.

Though due to my fault, I thought they would be opening at 9:30am, we arrived 9am. So we kinda wasted our time instead just checking out the surrounding location.

But anyway let’s skip to the Cosplay championship

AFA X 2010 Singapore Day 2

Date: 13th November 2010

Saturday…..the second day of AFA X…..if I had to describe how did this day go I guess it could best be summed up in 1 word, it would be “AWESOME!”

After CrossChannel finally arrived last night, we all decided to turn in for the night without delay as both of us were dead tired. Although the next morning I found him diligently working on his notebook @_@…..

I had initially wanted to update about the event at night but the internet at the hotel was total crap, it was nothing like what I had heard about from people who had reviewed about the hotel and it was not cheap either, SGD 5 for 2 hours of Internet connection. It was a total ripoff!

We both quickly made our way to Suntech convention hall thinking we would be early and the crowd wouldn’t be too big, oh how wrong we both were >_<

AFA X 2010 Singapore Day 1

Date: 12th November 2010.

This is me at the airport waiting for take off. I had wanted to take Friday off so I could go to and see AKB girls but because I had only recently started work, I was unable to get a full day off and instead opt for a half day instead.

Though for this trip I wasn’t alone, I would be meeting CrossChannel from Penang down at Singapore later that night.

Flight was rather boring and tiring, I shouldn’t have opted for the 6pm flight. Next year I plan to take Friday and Monday off.

Benjawan Iamwilaikul

No, I did not misspell that. That really is her name. She’s Thai okay? Finally managed to get some work done on her set. Though its not completed yet and I really don’t know when it’ll be completed. So many ideas I could use and yet so little obvious choice to go about processing her set.

This always seems to happen to me when I do model shoots where no prior expectations were set and as a result, the finished work always feels rather sub-par or overdone like steak.

This as always greatly disappoints me and why I don’t do many model shoot often.

Though that may be the case but Benjie as she likes to be called was fantastic to work with, I would describe her as someone with a vibrant and absolutely fun personality. She knows all her good sides and how to really present herself to the camera.

I definitely would look her up again for my next trip into Bangkok.

That is if I find another reason to go there beside BIM but then the world is full of chances.

You may be wondering, how did we communicate with her? Luckily we managed to procure the services of a interpreter who happens to be a friend of ours in Bangkok. Its always good to have many friends in many places…….:D

Anyway, enjoy the photos……….-_-;; (more…)

I’m back!

Group shot of team Rojak in Bangkok!

And what a weekend its been! Tired, exhausted, fun and CHEAP!  Staying and eating in Bangkok was not only good but cheap!

Most of all since they don’t require all food to be halal! Everything tasted exceptionally good!!! Especially the ladies there! ;) . More photos about that later! I need to process them first!

Heading off to Bangkok for the weekend.

Couldn't find anything closely resembling Thailand except this.

As some of you may know by now, I’ll be heading off to Bangkok for the weekend for a short vacation with my group of friends, The main purpose would be to attend the 2010 Bangkok Motorshow where car makers show case their latest cars for the year.  This year’s theme would be green cars AKA environmentally cars.

Though I’m just going there for ONE THING ONLY! The booth Babes! So yeah, I’m still a guy after all!

Anyway, I won’t be bringing my notebook this time which means there won’t be any live updates for this weekend till I return. But hopefully I’ll have some great stuff to post when I do come back!

Fujifilm/Fujichrome Fortia SP

Yup. Long overdue but I’ve been rather busy lately. Today’s entry will be showcasing shots using Fortia SP

Sadly this will be the last batch I ever shoot as I don’t have any rolls left after my Japan vacation.

Yes folks, I’ve totally exhausted my remaining supply of this wonderful film. I wish Fujifilm would had continued making this film even on a limited basis.

It was fun while it lasted but then again, it had to be used sooner or later and I’m glad it went out with a bang!

The only other film that comes close to this would be Velvia 50. Although I prefer the insane saturation this one gives.

Fujifilm Velvia 100

Its been a while now since I posted any Velvia 100 shots. So here they are in no particular order.

All of these shots were taken during my Japan vacation so you’ll have to excuse the fact that all of them are just autumn photos.

Also all the photos have been sharpen post scanning. Though its rather strange, I’ve noticed that photos taken by trebi 100c require little to no sharpening at all when compared to Velvia or Fortia.

Initially I thought the blurry look of the photos was due to my scanner as the photos on the roll of film were tack sharp.

I did have the roll of film developed and were all good and sharp. This enforced my initial theory but now I suspect it may be something entirely.

Happy Lunar New year 2010! The year of the tiger!

Tiger tiger burning bright~ in the darkness of the night.....

I’ll be heading back to home town for Chinese New Year.

To all my Chinese friends, Gong xi fa chai! (Ang pow gia lai! XD hahaahahahaha- its a common Chinese joke that is usually attached to the end of the usual CNY greeting which means, “Hand over the red packets!” which incidentally seems to rhymes nicely with the greeting). (more…)

Loot from Operation Chiaki…

As promised here is the loot report. You didn’t think after 30 days plus in Japan I wouldn’t have bought anything? Well most of it are just books that can’t be found in Malaysia due to censorship controls or are just plain rare!

Everything was shipped back via EMS at the total cost of 22,300 yen which is about GASP! RM830! Still cheaper than paying the overweight fine at the airport (it would have been about Rm2,000).

Okay let’s get to the detail item list…..

Operation Chiaki: Day 33 (The return)

Not Jedi. Just me going back to Malaysia. By the time this is posted, I would be on a plane back to Malaysia. I’ll also be returning to work on Monday. Its been long and swell trip, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. Hopefully the next stage of my plans will move along smoothly.

A plan that started 2 years ago, I now have all the material I need. More on that soon…..

Update:Details have been added

Operation Chiaki: Day 27

Operation Chiaki: Day 24 (Kyoto complete)

Well the last day in Kyoto and what am I doing? Why relaxing, that is the point of a vacation. Just buying books I’ve been eying as well as some items from Bic Camera. Taking it real easy.

So the question that enters my mind, “did I accomplished what I had set out to do in Kyoto?”. The answer is yes, I really enjoyed myself. (more…)

Operation Chiaki: Day 23 (Osaka)

Well, after my miyajima trip, I went about my usual routine of cleaning my camera gear and etc. I then decided to do a sensor dirt check, it's been a while since I did one. This process is used to check how much dirt has accumulated on the DSLR's sensors.

Operation Chiaki: Day 22 (Miyajima)

"Best fun yet!"

Is how I would have describe my Miyajima trip. After traveling for more than 3 hours by Shinkansen, train, and ferry. I arrived at the famous island of Miyajima with its many historical and unique cultural sites.

Operation Chiaki: Day 18 (Himeji)

Definitely worth my day!

Decided to pay Himeji a visit on a spur of the moment choice this morning since it was sunny, I had some extra days on my hand since Yoshino was done, Miyajima was not sunny today and it was only 30 minutes away from Kyoto by Shinkansen!

Operation Chiaki: Day 17 (Yoshino) and Kyoto at night

So far I believe I've been hiking 8 km per day on average. Yoshino was no exception except that it was a 15 km hike which I decided to pass up and only go 1/3 of the way instead. Though I shot with film for Yoshino.
