Here are some of my new shots I took during a model shoot I was invited to by g3k when I went up to Penang last weekend.

Here is another work…

“Painted sky”

Yes, this is a photograph…..

More pano shots.

Again another experiment with panoramic shot. Even though I have a 17mm which is pretty wide on a full frame camera, but there are benefits to using panoramic shots instead as there is no lens distortions evident.

Click on the image for an even larger size. These was taken using 50mm, I find that a pano shot using anymore more then 35mm yields the best so far. I tried to use 17mm so I wouldn’t have to take so many shots but it seems there are slight distortion evident on the final pic. But using anything more then 35mm is great!

My latest attempt. This one was done using a tripod rather then my previous attempt which were done using the camera hand held. The benefit of using the camera on a tripod instead is that you can close down the shutter to f8 or f11 and at shot at a longer shutter without causing blur or without using high ISO.

Sunset…..with a twist.

Just something I’ve always wanted to try, panoramic shot of a sunset. Inspired by a recent article on how to do panoramic shots using lightroom and CS3.

Enjoy!

Click here for the large size one.

Till then, pleasant dreams!

PC fair KL December 2008

Once again PC fair came around to KL and just in time for Christmas.

It seem this time around 1 terabyte hard disk was the hottest selling product with it finally reaching the RM500 price tag.

It came without warning……

As it quickly engulf the city in its radiant light, the first thought that rushes in everyone’s mind is, “Is this it? The end finally?”

“It came without warning”

Elaine at Central market

Here we have Elaine (boy you must be thinking, “you sure had one hell of a busy day didn’t you?”. Yes I did and the rain didn’t make it any easier that day).

I wish I had been able to spend more time with Elaine, I had so many ideas but tragically, the location prohibited such ideas! (Damn!) Also the rain it difficult to shooting anything.

Natalie at Central market

Here is another model I worked with that day, Natalie. Also a great model to work with, from what I gather she knew exactly what was her good angles.

Listen up aspiring models! You do yourself a big favor if you know what is your best angle and don’t just guess what is your best angle like a lot of people I know of, check them out yourself in front of a large full body length mirror!

Carace at Central market

Well this is a bit overdue. Actually it WAAAY overdue just like my other photos but recently I have been busy with work and hardly have any time for life.

Anyway, here are the recent photos I took on the model shoot with Carace at Central market which was organized by Rog (thanks!)

The Pariah

Forgot about this pic the last time.

Kodak Elitechrome 100

Today I will be reviewing the Kodak Elitechrome 100 slide film. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I can give a very thorough review of this film for now as I have had not enough opportunity to use this film. It’s pretty easy to obtain this slide film in KL, Malaysia when compared to say Fujifilm or ilford films.

It’s official…..

I am stuck in a creative runt! After so many weeks I have not come up with any new photos and all my attempts only yield something like this….

Carace Kwan.

Originally, I started off with a pretty good idea with what I wanted for this shoot but as I went along I began to feel that this may not be the best way to go so I decided to stop for now still I can get some inspiration for something better.

Here is an interesting tidbit, the white balance for this pic was horrendous! It was so yellow, it looked like Carace had been dunked in yellow paint! But lo behold! What a switch to black and white can do! Consider that a tip!

Nikon 85mm f/1.8

It’s considered to be one of the best portrait lens considering focal length-wise of course. On a crop sensor it’s still considered quite a good portrait lens as it becomes 135mm.

KL Urbanscape photography.

Yesterday I decided to join an Urbanscape shootout with the Photokaki members here in KL as I could get to know the local clubs as well as know some of the places I can shoot about in KL. As well as being able to shoot in relative safety as it was a huge gathering of photographers.

Here are some of the shoots I took, see if you can recognise the places. It was a very overcast day but I try to make do nonetheless

Here are some new black and white pics I took on my way to work.

The sky was beautiful, the wind was cooling, the air was fresh! Perfect day for photography, so why the hell was I on my way to work?! It should be made illegal to be stuck in the office on the day is so beautiful!!!

Although it was a nice and sunny morning. But I felt that should try something for a change. I rarely shoot black and white photos ever.

Don’t always rush when taking photography. It’s not a race unless it’s sport photography, you can sometimes find the most interesting things from the most uninspiring subjects. You just need to wait and let it show itself to you.

Testing different types of flash setup style.

As promised I will be presenting in this entry a brief review of the various types of flash setup for when you’re on a small budget. (Seriously, what kind of a “small” budget is this when it consist of an S5 pro and 2 SB600?!)

For this test I will be using my figurine Momo.

For starters, let go with the basic 2 lamp types which I picked up a Ikea for RM60 each (inclusive of light bulb if I remember correctly)

Here I have 2 lamps setup

Bird Park KL

After the butterfly park on the same day, I was thinking of heading off but due to the way the whole area’s roads and signs, I found myself at the Bird Park (whether this design was intention or not I don’t know). So I decided to make use of the opportunity and went in.

In retrospec, I’m so glad I did (but more on that in my next entry, this one is just about the sights and birds of this place).

I must say considering how shoddy the Malaysian government works, I half-heartedly expected the place to be only filled with Pigeons and crows only. But to my surprise I found many species of birds (as well as reptile but that’s another story).

I’ll the photos to do talking on what I saw. Basically the whole area has a very high up net place over it in order to prevent the birds from escaping. There are about 4 zones which reflect the type of environment of each of the birds there (too bad there is no artic zone).

Each zone is then separated by its own net as well as doors. Only the flightless birds section did not have any net over them.

Butterfly Park in KL

Well today I decided to go to the Butterfly Park at Tasik Perdana since it would be a long week with Monday being a replacement holiday for Malaysia’s National day.

I left at about 8am and getting there wasn’t so hard, although I wish the maps on sell in the bookstores would actually be updated. Fortunately after staying in KL for over 4 months now I have come to learn on how to actually guess which bleeding turn to take instead of blindly following the map. Also since tomorrow is going to be Malaysia’s natonal day, some of the roads have been closed off for the national parade (particularly the Sultan Ismail road).

In any case, I managed to reach the Butterfly Park at roughly 8:30am but it would only open at 9am. So after waiting for bleeding 30 minutes I went it.

For a while I went around the park and a strange though had occurred to me, “Where were all the butterfly?” I didn’t see a single one for quite a while. It was only after an hour later did the butterflies started to make their appearance for their daily routine.

So without further ado, here are the shots I took

Ayanami Rei by Kotobukiya and by Yamato

Alright today I will be trying a number of new things I haven’t done before. Firstly I will be making this blog entry using ScribeFire instead of Blogger’s default editor which is very limited.

Malaysian International fireworks competition 2008

I went to last Saturday’s competition at Putrajaya with a friend and I have to say, I was rather impressed by the show.

This event is spans over a few weeks by different countries competing for first place. The reason why it spans over a few weeks is because preparations can take many days. Hence the reason for the huge gaps in between performing countries.

The event is actually held at the Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC). Its about 45 minutes drive from Petaling Jaya, why is the event being held so far from anywhere? to reduce the lightly hood of any incidents should something unexpected happen as well as reduce light pollution from the city. Although I suspect its to draw people to Malaysia’s rarely seen and used Putrajaya sector which to me feels like a big white elephant.

The competing countries are: (each on a different date)

  1. Team Malaysia (12 August 2008)
  2. Team China (16 August 2008)
  3. Team Canada (20 August 2008)
  4. Team Spain (24 August 2008)

With the Grand finale on the 29 August 2008. I have so far only gone to Team China show as the Malaysian team was on the 12 of August which is a week day.

Some black and white shots!

Here are some shots I took while I was staying at my Brother’s place as I was attending the Microsoft Tech-ed 2008 at KLCC.

This shot was nothing more then a bokeh test for my Nikon D700. I’m pretty use to bokeh since I started to use film.

PC fair August 2008 KL

Here are the shots from the PC fair at KLCC last weekend. PC fair takes place every 3 months in Malaysia. Its an event where people can either find a great deal or see the latest gear on display.

Though for people like me (I use to go to PC fair for the sole purpose of getting computer stuff back in Penang) to check out the huge crowds and hopefully score an incredibly good deal. But I’ll be honest, if you really want to look for the best price for computer stuff, you better off looking going to lowyat.

Vinno Model shoot

This is from the model shoot from last Sunday morning. Thanks to NikonK , G3k and Iris for the invite to the shoot. The model that day was Vinno who is a stunning model to work with!

For today’s posting I decided to try something new all together instead of posting each of the photos one by one, here I have embed all the photos as a gallery/slideshow via flash which connects directly into the smugmug album.

So you can just browse through the photos and if you want to look at them in higher details, just click on the gallery/slideshow and it will allow you to go straight to the website (but you need to disable the add blocker first to do so). Also note the left and right arrows allows you to go forward or backwards in the gallery and pressing the pause symbol in the middle of the slideshow pauses it.

Also for this time I decided to play with colors, there is nothing wrong with the original colors but I just wanted to try something different. So drop me a line and tell me what you think. Until then, pleasant dreams~!

Round 3.

Here are some new pics!

Here we have Mayu Oda who is one of the Zent sweeties!!!
