Happy Chinese New Year 2012!

Here’s to another Chinese New year! To top it off! It’s the year of the Dragon! That is right! The freaking dragon! Which means either good news or bad news. Either way, we cannot let our guard down, les we be eaten by those of the dragon or we lose sight of our prey for those of the dragon!

So what have I been doing? Oh the usual, flying home to my hometown in the middle of my work and since it’s like a big steaming pile of dung, it’ll be stinkier by the time I get back and actually work on it. Sleeping, and more sleeping. Once can never have too much sleep.

I hope everyone is having a a great time as they usher in the Chinese New Year, besides it’s a good reason to drunk and be happy about without breaking any new year resolution.

My journey home this time was actually pretty good! No screaming babies this time! Either everyone decided to hold off having kids during the year of the rabbit or they already went back by the time I took the late flight home to Labuan.  Though I predict nightmare next year as people bring back the “dragon babies” to their hometowns.

Anyway, to all my Chinese friends,

GONG XI FATT CHOI!!!!!!! (Angpow gia lai! for those who are married!) hahaahahaahahah!

To those who are single, “See? Being single ain’t so bad! You still get ang pow! While married people have to start dishing it out!”.

Today’s event was just as awesome except now all the exhibits were open as well as the main stage events! The crowd was even bigger than yesterday’s one. It would still be a while before the doors open so instead we went around checking out the cosplay scene and let me this is one of the best years’ yet

AFA 2011 day 2 report will be delayed…..

I’m sorry but I won’t be able to upload the photos until I get back to KL next week because there is just way to many photos to process. My poor iPad can’t take the stress! So instead here I have a photo of the first of many loot! Hahahah managed to finally find it after missing it the last time!

Anime Festival Asia 2011

Right,as some of you may already know, tomorrow’s is the start of AFA11. It’s the second final event of the year for me! I’ll be flying off tomorrow and will be back next week and hopefully will have lots of stuff to blog about!
The good thing about this year’s event is that there are twice the number of events and artists there this year, the bad thing for me though is that JAM project is not there this year but that still won’t stop me from having fun!!!!
And let’s not forget about the cosplay and movies showing there! It’ll be the biggest anime event in this region!!

Though there is one silver lining, for the first time in southeast Asia, Miku 3D live will be there!!

So for those who are also going there! I’ll see you there!! I’ll have the report up as soon as I can!

Happy Halloween~~~~! 2011!

Happy Halloween! and to answer the next question! Yes I have NOT been busy, just haven’t had anything to blog about since my last entry but I hope to change that by November!  You all know what that means! So stay tune as I have some new material to blog about soon!

Anyway, like last year! It’s time for Halloween and for you ghost and ghouls to come out of the wood works and go hunting for candy! Sadly we don’t have that here but heck! At least it’s happening somewhere else in the world so this entry is not a total waste!

I had intended to do this entry early this morning but you know what? It had totally slip my mind as I’m messing with Vuescan which by the way is an awesome scanning software especially for film!

What have I really been up to? Well so far I’ve just been working on shooting more photos using film (I can hear all the digital shooter condemning me for switching over to film most of the time now). I haven’t abandon digital, it still has a place especially when it comes to events and unpredictable situations. The only reason I’m using mostly film these days is because I’ve been getting back to basics to try and refine my skills and not trying to be a film snob.

So far the experience has been very eye opening though whether or not it will really help improve my skills beyond the current slump I’m in has yet to be seen.  Anyway, enjoy tonight !

Super GT 2011 Sepang

While this year’s Super GT has improved in certain areas when compared to previous years but sadly since 2009, the race queen palate leaves something to be desire. Ever since 2009, we have been seeing a decline in the number that are sent as well as the quality of the outfits that were tremendously toned-down to comply with Malaysia’s “moral laws” (more on that later). In years before 2009, we could always expect to find beautiful diamond every time but after that, we find an occasional polished diamond or so such as Noa or Yuuna. Now it seems we can’t even find a diamond. (more…)

Back from Super GT 2011!

More photos as soon as I'm down processing them~~

Super GT 2011! Here I come!!

If you have been following my blog long enough then you damn well know it’s that time of the year! (No, I’ve filed my taxes for last year so they won’t be chasing (hunting) me this year and I made sure to disposed of the dead bodies I murdered earlier this year in a very deep grave unlike some politician with all his ill-gotten wealth who couldn’t even be bothered with burying the body six feet underground). So once again I’ll be away this weekend at Sepang for Super GT! There won’t be any updates until Monday!

So keep those batteries ready and memory cards plenty!

Autocity super gt roadshow 2011 preview

Group shot curtesy of Calvin Ang

I’m back~! It was fun filled weekend even though if the weather was against us, along with the crowd and so many other factors. I’ll post up the photos in the next few days. I took over 2000 shots so there is going to be quite a bit of sorting out to do.

Managed to get some great shots and so on and score some autographs from the gt queens themselves~~~! ^_^

Also Ayami, remembers some of us although not all of the members from 2008 were there but it’s nice to be remembered.

More to come later!!!

Undesirable turn of events

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I do try to make an update when possible but recently I have been busy with work. So to answer the question, yes I’m still alive.

What is it about with this entry? What tragic event has befallen me this time? Well nothing serious actually but because of my new work, I would have to miss this year’s annual trip to Bangkok International Motor Show with Rojak Studio to attend company training at the end of this month. This training is essential to my work and cannot be defer……this was my reaction….

Alright enough melodrama! Sadly the company would not reimburse my flight tickets to Bangkok nor would Airasia entertain any request for even a partial refund of my money. Oh woe is me. I guess that’s how the cookie crumbles.

So that only leaves me with Super GT and AFA this year. After those I can consider the year over already,.

So yeah. Boring crappy shit.

Lunar new year. The rants of an ingrate Chinese

An AK-74, best crowd clearance weaponry pity I don't own one....

Like every year I will be returning to my hometown for the new lunar year AKA Chinese new year. The very journey itself is rather perilous due to the high volume of travelers at this time of the year. It can be sometimes equate to the mass migration animals in Africa, at least that’s the case for China. Though that doesn’t mean Malaysia is not without it’s problem.

Travel plans have to sometimes be made 6 months in advance to ensure a smooth journey home at a reasonable price. Though do you know what is the greatest and most horrible thing that one may encounter on such a journey?

  • Nay it is not the canceled flights.
  • Nay it is not the fickel weather that hampers thou’s quest.
  • Nay it is not the sickness that may strike you down!
  • But the horrible thought of sitting next to a crying baby for for the next 3 f**king hours! Given the choice, a car ride through a minefield would be a blessing! At least it is out of your control but with crying babies, one cannot do anything but bear with it! Oh please mighty forces of the void! Do not condemn me to such a horrible fate!

Now I know how Hannibel Lecter felt! The journey back for me, is equate to fighting my way through barrage of idiots! Especially the nitwits who do not know how to calm their babies!

So how long will I be there? A week. No doubt it would be nothing except meaningless visits to relatives whose names I don’t even bother to remember because of how insignificant they are to the schemes of things except for themselves. Almost all of them cannot remember mine as well so it evens out.

For my chinese compatriots,  I wish you a safe journey home. Especially my friends from my last companies Runge, Intel and Agilent. This is the time of the year I dread most, the journey back……

Comic Fiesta 2010 (Cosplay report)

While Danny Choo was nowhere to be seen (except for his doppleganger Wisemen) we do have Mirai here.

Sadly, this will just be a cosplay report of this year’s Comic Fiesta 2010 at Berjaya Time Square (ballroom at the 14th floor) since I didn’t think of bringing a wide angle lens. Instead I just stuck with prime lenses.

A mistake I sorely regret since the event was surprisingly much better than I had anticipated when compared to other anime conventions I had been to around West Malaysia (hint, not low-keyed)

Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010 Day 3!

rNope, that title is not a mistype. This article is for the third day of KLIMS 2010 which was a Sunday. Though this time the number of models were a lot more than Friday. Sadly nothing else has improved especially for the batmobile and bumblebee where a lot of people were cursing at the crap imitation.

A word of advice to people planning to go to this events. This is NOT  family event! Please don’t bring:

1. Your grandmother or any member of your family using a walker.
2. Your grandfather  or any member of your family using a wheelchair
3. Your 2 hour old baby child right from the bloody hospital along with your wife who just gave birth.
4. Children below the age of 14.

For crap sakes! If you still insist on bringing them along then leave the DSLR or camera behind because you cannot take photos while looking over your family.

Don’t delude yourselves and think that you can. You will lose something when you try. Either a chance at getting a good shot or worse, losing your child.

We saw numerous incidents at that day alone where children or old folks separated from their families because Daddy was too busy chasing after models.

Get either a babysitter or have your spouse look after your family while you come out and enjoy or something but DON’T bring them all together! The event is as crowded as it is already.

I could understand if it was a teenager son who isn’t an idiot. Or the father who is actually fitter than yourself. But why oh why do Malaysians want to bring everyone to an event clearly not family oriented?

Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010 Day 1!

The Yellow Camero! AKA BUMBLEBEE! Sadly the 1:1 scale robot there was piss poor when compared to the car. If anyone is going to see the transformer robot version, be prepare to be VERY disappointed. You're better off just admiring the car instead.

AFA X 2010 Singapore Day 3

Date: 14th November 2010

Here we are again with the report for day 3, I should have taken a Monday off that way I wouldn’t be in such a rush.

Anyway, we were only planning to attend the Regional Cosplay Championship for a short while then continue our way checking more cosplayers. So we paid a nice visit to Kinokuniya at Takashimaya.

Though due to my fault, I thought they would be opening at 9:30am, we arrived 9am. So we kinda wasted our time instead just checking out the surrounding location.

But anyway let’s skip to the Cosplay championship

AFA X 2010 Singapore Day 2

Date: 13th November 2010

Saturday…..the second day of AFA X…..if I had to describe how did this day go I guess it could best be summed up in 1 word, it would be “AWESOME!”

After CrossChannel finally arrived last night, we all decided to turn in for the night without delay as both of us were dead tired. Although the next morning I found him diligently working on his notebook @_@…..

I had initially wanted to update about the event at night but the internet at the hotel was total crap, it was nothing like what I had heard about from people who had reviewed about the hotel and it was not cheap either, SGD 5 for 2 hours of Internet connection. It was a total ripoff!

We both quickly made our way to Suntech convention hall thinking we would be early and the crowd wouldn’t be too big, oh how wrong we both were >_<

AFA X 2010 Singapore Day 1

Date: 12th November 2010.

This is me at the airport waiting for take off. I had wanted to take Friday off so I could go to and see AKB girls but because I had only recently started work, I was unable to get a full day off and instead opt for a half day instead.

Though for this trip I wasn’t alone, I would be meeting CrossChannel from Penang down at Singapore later that night.

Flight was rather boring and tiring, I shouldn’t have opted for the 6pm flight. Next year I plan to take Friday and Monday off.
