Cleaning up….

Just to let people know that I’ve added 2 new pages. One holds all the links to everything I have reviewed so far(film, camera gear and PVC figures) and another holds all the links to my previous photography vacations making it easy for people to look up details without having to search for it (a lot of people have been complaining that it was hard to read the story chronologically)

In case you still can’t find the page, here they are

Benjawan Iamwilaikul

No, I did not misspell that. That really is her name. She’s Thai okay? Finally managed to get some work done on her set. Though its not completed yet and I really don’t know when it’ll be completed. So many ideas I could use and yet so little obvious choice to go about processing her set.

This always seems to happen to me when I do model shoots where no prior expectations were set and as a result, the finished work always feels rather sub-par or overdone like steak.

This as always greatly disappoints me and why I don’t do many model shoot often.

Though that may be the case but Benjie as she likes to be called was fantastic to work with, I would describe her as someone with a vibrant and absolutely fun personality. She knows all her good sides and how to really present herself to the camera.

I definitely would look her up again for my next trip into Bangkok.

That is if I find another reason to go there beside BIM but then the world is full of chances.

You may be wondering, how did we communicate with her? Luckily we managed to procure the services of a interpreter who happens to be a friend of ours in Bangkok. Its always good to have many friends in many places…….:D

Anyway, enjoy the photos……….-_-;; (more…)

This is not how I had planned to spend my weekend……

Being sick......nyorooooooooo

I didn’t planned to get sick last weekend. In fact no one planet Earth should get sick on Weekend but of all the bloody days I had to get sick!

I had such a nice lovely weekend planned out as well, I would have spent Saturday at Starbucks enjoying a latte while working on my photos from Bangkok (Yes there’s still a big  backlog work I have yet to complete) while being a pretentious prick with smug look on his face using his macbook!

But oh no!! I had to get sick of all days!!!

This is a job requirement?

Yup, its great to be us.

Yesterday came across an interesting classified posted by a software company in Penang (I will not name the  company from fear of getting sued by said company for defamation, its real common for victims to be sued by criminals in this country).

They were looking for an IT developer, listed were the usual expected requirements such as “must be fluent in Cantonese and Hokkian” and etc but you know what really caught me by surprise?

Who is the Photographer?

Who is the Photographer?

Is it a person with purpose?
What is this purpose? To capture a moment for all eternity to whom might still care to know or learn?
Or is it for money or that of duty?
To which either answer might be sad or true.

Is it a person with a passion?
To bring forth a story that inspires or betrays the heart of the viewers?
Perhaps to bring closure to something that was once started but never finished.
But in the end, the reason is still for passion.

Is it a person with lust?
A person who concedes to the temptation of the flesh or tries to with only their eyes?
Call this person weak and evil if you will for they only admitted their weakness
That they are humans after all like you and I.

Is it a person withOUT desire?
Simply following those around themselves
Desiring that which is only desire by others but not themselves for the mere fact of wanting.
Their desire lacks passion and hence goes no further when they encounter a hurdle.
Like a flock of dimmed witted sheep.

I’m back!

Group shot of team Rojak in Bangkok!

And what a weekend its been! Tired, exhausted, fun and CHEAP!  Staying and eating in Bangkok was not only good but cheap!

Most of all since they don’t require all food to be halal! Everything tasted exceptionally good!!! Especially the ladies there! ;) . More photos about that later! I need to process them first!

Heading off to Bangkok for the weekend.

Couldn't find anything closely resembling Thailand except this.

As some of you may know by now, I’ll be heading off to Bangkok for the weekend for a short vacation with my group of friends, The main purpose would be to attend the 2010 Bangkok Motorshow where car makers show case their latest cars for the year.  This year’s theme would be green cars AKA environmentally cars.

Though I’m just going there for ONE THING ONLY! The booth Babes! So yeah, I’m still a guy after all!

Anyway, I won’t be bringing my notebook this time which means there won’t be any live updates for this weekend till I return. But hopefully I’ll have some great stuff to post when I do come back!

This is what happens when….

you’ve watched War of the World, Seven, Batman begins and Batman: Dark knight. All in one night

An interesting article about Jimbocho……

Tokyo’s sadly declining second hand book district offers Anglophone bookworms everything from cheap paperback novels to first editions requiring credit card limit extensions

Yes remember visiting some of the shops mentioned in the article, I remember bondi especially!

Fujifilm/Fujichrome Fortia SP

Yup. Long overdue but I’ve been rather busy lately. Today’s entry will be showcasing shots using Fortia SP

Sadly this will be the last batch I ever shoot as I don’t have any rolls left after my Japan vacation.

Yes folks, I’ve totally exhausted my remaining supply of this wonderful film. I wish Fujifilm would had continued making this film even on a limited basis.

It was fun while it lasted but then again, it had to be used sooner or later and I’m glad it went out with a bang!

The only other film that comes close to this would be Velvia 50. Although I prefer the insane saturation this one gives.

Fujifilm Velvia 100

Its been a while now since I posted any Velvia 100 shots. So here they are in no particular order.

All of these shots were taken during my Japan vacation so you’ll have to excuse the fact that all of them are just autumn photos.

Also all the photos have been sharpen post scanning. Though its rather strange, I’ve noticed that photos taken by trebi 100c require little to no sharpening at all when compared to Velvia or Fortia.

Initially I thought the blurry look of the photos was due to my scanner as the photos on the roll of film were tack sharp.

I did have the roll of film developed and were all good and sharp. This enforced my initial theory but now I suspect it may be something entirely.

Fujifilm Trebi 100c

Fujifilm Trebi 100c. Available only in Japan.

This film can only be found in Japan though you can order through a few online stores such as Japan Exposure . I’m a sucker for unknown color positive films, pity though I couldn’t find any Fortia SP.

Brief Description:
From what I gather this film is actually considered the Fisher Price of color reversal films. If you plan on chosing color reversal film instead of color negative films as your first type then this is the film you should get first.

Its surprisingly very easy to control and incredibly very sharp even after scanning from the film directly.

The compact changeable lens cameras: Evolution or Revolution?

Before we begin, let’s set a few definition straight :

Evolution :
Definition: a process in which something passes by degrees to a different stage (especially a more advanced or mature stage); Example:  ”the development of his ideas took many years”; “the evolution of Greek civilization”; “the slow development of her skill as a writer”

Revolution :
Definition: a drastic and far-reaching change in ways of thinking and behaving; Example: “the industrial revolution was also a cultural revolution”

Also for this entry, we will be limiting our scope only to DSLR and SLRs with occasional reference to the current crop of “PnS” (point and shoot cameras) cameras whenever it helps with the topic.

Compact DSLR
So what is today’s entry about ? “Compact DSLR” ;is what many are calling it although personally it should be called mirrorless design or a poor man’s digital rangefinder. Yes the age of small and lightweight camera has truly begun.  Sure we’ve had them for years but those PnS camera were really next to a bag of crap that even a disposable film camera were way better than them.

Happy new year 2010!

Okay I know this is rather late but I have a good reason! I was too busy recovering from a huge hangover after a new year drinking binge to update my blog. No wait, I’m lying.  The real reason why I haven’t updated was because I was too damn lazy! (more…)
