Mind your weight!
Some of you might remember my article or take on the Desert Island Scenario where I mentioned you should absolutely either keep camera gear to the lightest or none at all but instead focus on survival equipment.
Well here is a short story of Ed Stafford on CNN who is concluding a 2 year trek through the amazon with his friend Gadiel “Cho” Sanchez Rivera. You can find the article here.
As I also mentioned previously, the reason why you must keep weight to a minimum because the more gear or stuff you carry, the shorter the distance you travel per day. And you cannot be stingy on survival gear which will be heavy! As exemplify by this paragraph on the CNN article.
“Cho and I take turns up front with the machete. We walk 50 minutes of every hour and rest 10 minutes, so we do 25-minute shifts. It’s enough when you have to carry a 35 to 45 kg pack (the weight depends on the quantity of food and duration of the leg.) ”, Ed Stafford.
The paragraph below further proves my point that even if you are in tip-top physical condition (which most photographers I’ve met these days are NOT!), you will be dead exhausted by the end of the day…….
“When we break for a rest and slump onto our packs we stare at the floor and try and regain the composure to speak to each other. Sometimes this never comes and we don’t speak all day. Nothing sinister — it’s just complete exhaustion. We don’t lunch; we just keep grazing on farinha and salt.”, Ed Stafford.
See? This gear masturbation is bullshit. That’s why I hate all this talk about desert island or “Lost” scenario. You will not and cannot go nuts on the camera gear when you have more important things to prepare when going on a hiking trip whether its for a few days to a few months or like these 2 guys, a few years!
Bon odori Penang 2010

Bon Odori Penang 2010
I know its a bit late since everyone else has already upload theirs since last week but I have a legitimate excuse! I’m Lazy!
So how was this year’s bon odori? Well for the first time it wasn’t hot! That’s because it rained heavily during the 1st hour, drastically cooling down the hot air. The bad thing though it that it made all the area around the stage muddy!
Thanks to Chewing Gum for driving us in his new Honda City!!! DAMN THAT’S ONE SWEET RIDE!
Also thanks again for lending us the OP passes! I didn’t even expected them ! Honest! XD (They were limited to 5 people only so Rojak Studio sent in their best event photographers. Note, these are the same people who shoot weddings for a living!)
I have to admit this year’s event was pretty good. Lots of fun, games and thanks to a special sale of Yukatas at Queensbay mall, almost everyone was wearing one this year.
B-Suite Penang. Biggest room at the lowest rates.
I’ve never seen a hotel room this big and this cheap in my whole life! Not even those expensive 5 star hotels are this big and cheap! How big is it?!

This big!
Located at Bayan Lepas, next to Bukit Jambul. The rates are damn good (Rm290 for 2 nights!). Next time, I’m staying here again!
Bon Odori 2010 at Penang

Okay, technically people wear Yukatas to festivals(Matsuri) in Japan rather than Kimonos but I couldn't resist the cuteness here~~~! ^_^
Once again I’ll be heading up to Penang for Bon Odori Penang. I could have opt for KL’s Bon odori instead at the Panasonic Stadium but then I wouldn’t have the fun of hanging out with RojakStudio.
So communication will be limited to what I can access at the hotel. I’ll be back on the 18th (Sunday) evening.
Also please for the love of everything don’t be hot like last year’s Bon odori!
In case anyone is wondering when and where it will be..
Location: Esplanade, Penang
Date: 17th July 2010
Organizer: The Consulate of Japan, Penang State Tourism Development &
Culture and Bon Odori Committee
Contact: 04-2263030
See you guys there~~~! ^_^
Miara Patthavorarong.

One sultry babe~~~~
No….I didn’t misspell that. That really is her name! Also known as Inkky as she wants to be called. This is the final series of the Bangkok Model shoot from March 2010.
Inkky quite an amazing model to work with while she’s not as daring as Benjie but she does know what you really need rather than what you really want~~.
For this shoot like Benjie’s it was totally shot using the Nikkor 85mm F/1.8 AF-D. Though I don’t know how the f/1.4 would have performed in this situation either……
Anyway, moving on. Enjoy the pics~~
Things I hate to hear…..

Sometimes I wish I can just punch their lights out!!
There are many things I hate to hear in my life. They are
1. “You’re good but I think I am way better because I think so.”
2. “No” (while shaking head).
3. “But ancient tradition dictates….(blah blah blah).” (old people ranting of ancient shit with no reason like why use leeches to cure anemia or something baseless.)
I could go on with a 100 more items but today I’ll add another item to my long list of things I hate….
