Bon Odori 2009 Penang

You know I only go to bon odori for one reason, to indulge myself and hopefully for a brief while, to induced my mind to temporary escape the fact that the body that it is housed in is not trapped in Malaysia; and if that fails there’s always the wonderful joy of taking photos of cute girls in Kimono regardless whether they are real Japanese or local girls.

Daicon 2009 Day 2

Today’s report will be focusing on day 2.

Though a word of caution, after arriving I was informed by Kurogane that for today’s Chihara Minori concert, I was not allowed to take any photos. Even this rule was enforced for Media representative as well, only Official media were allowed to photograph the performance.

Daicon 2009 Day 1

I’ll be honest, I had only heard about this event in full detail when I was informed about by my team leader when he rang me up to informed I would be one of the 2 guys covering the event. So I made a note of it in my planner and off I went yesterday morning.

The main grand hall of the multimedia university, its not the Tokyo Big Sight at Ariaka but big nonetheless.

Super GT girls! (Local and Japanese!) Part 1!

As promised, here are the ladies! Though a fair bit of warning first, due to the world wide economic downturn it would seem that everyone is cutting cost.

“The first question I asked,” Mr. Taxali said in a recent interview, “is ‘What’s the fee?’”

Mr. Taxali said that when he was told Google would pay nothing, he declined.

This reminds me of another incident as told by Harlan Ellison. It seem a lot of companies are trying to get free material with the promise of publicity. Bullshit I say!

It was so hot last weekend…

and I’m not just talking about the girls there! It was so damn hot I had to shove my head into a cooler……also I did not finish the ice-cream, it was already empty when I got there….honest!

Auto-city report: Super GT Roadshow 2009.

Once again I would like to thank Andy for the invite as an OP for this event, had a blast! Sorry I couldn’t make it for the last day (Sunday) as I was too tired from Friday and Saturday. I would also like to thank CC for the taking on the job as a translator/interpreter between us.

I have returned!

The view in Penang fantastic especially from Auto-city!

Actually I’ve been back since Sunday but I only managed to find time now to post an entry.

I’ll be posting more shots later once I have managed to fully upload all of them.

This weekend……

I’ll be in Penang as the Super GT roadshow will be at autocity for one more show before the big race next weekend. Although my main purpose there is to clean out my apartment as there still a lot of stuff there which I could use some of it down here in KL.

I’ll be driving down Sunday night as I have an MCTS exam on Monday morning. -_-;; not one of my ideas on how to start off a Monday morning.

I don’t have high expectation for this road show but heck why not? I could use the day off on Friday to relax.

This is how……

you look to me when you asked for a discount on a job I’ve completed for you……..whether its photography or computer related.

I AM NOT A DAMN TACO STAND! If you wanted something cheaper, then order the fries only! Don’t order steak and expect a discount!
Hahahahahaha! I so love this clip!

Ilford FP4 Plus 125

Here is an odd ball roll of film, this is the first time I am trying out a film rated at 125 ISO, heck I never even tried this ISO on digital body but surprisingly it performs rather well as you can see.

The Desert Island scenario for photographers……..

Yup, it was bound to happen. Sooner or later someone (actually a lot of times since a lot of newbies ask me this interesting question) would ask for this, what do I bring to a desert island of despair~~~~~~? (dum dum dum da~~~~~~~)

Ilford Pan F plus 50

Here are some shots from the roll of Ilford Pan F 50 I tried out a month ago.

This is a rather good general purpose film though rated at ISO 50, I wouldn’t use it for anything that moves fast unless the lighting was good. I think this film best serves as a landscape film similar to Velvia 50

How I despise censorship in Malaysia

Imagine one day going to a bookstore, you’re an adult with buying power. You want to buy a book or magazine so that you may enjoy the content(hopefully) that you paid (say RM120). Now imagine what you will feel when after paying for the magazine or book, you then proceed home, open the book/magazine and find that its been censored with black marker pen.

The paragraph that is Asia.

I had just finished reading an article at reuters you can find here. For some reason I couldn’t help noticing the incredible similarity that his country was facing. Well not really its just that when I read this paragraph

When I could get a word in edgeways, I asked Mohamed why there weren’t more protests like last year. “I’ll tell you,” he explained. “The people are not united, they are afraid to go out and protest. And, of course, most people are too busy trying to feed and educate their families.”

It struck a cord with me, let’s face it! Malaysia has a lot of shitty problems and yet no one does anything about it. If the government stinks, get rid of them! But Malaysians are just simply contend with maintaining the status quo, not because they are lazy (well partially) but because they are not united, afraid to take risk due to the education system they were raised in schools and at home that non-conformism is shameful and wrong.

We are all the same, regardless of skin color, religion and culture but because we are taught that inconformism is something like communism of haydays people are afraid to go out and make noise about it and those that DO want to make noise but cannot due to their inherent fear of persecution by the government who would be more then glad to crush any small rebellion with their use of ISA will always remain where they are, NO where!

But you might ask why can’t a lone person change anything ? Let’s face it, only those with immense power can singlehandedly change anything alone because power makes change. I guess this is why the Malaysian loves to keep the Malays, Chinese and Indians as segmented as possible, to prevent from creating or forming something the current BN party is afraid of which is all of us coming to the realization that we are being fucked everyday by them while they enjoy the fruits of our labor and they have whores sucking them off (and blowing up anyone with C4 that even looks at them funny!) . They are terrified of the people coming together and getting rid of them either via election or bloodshed.

I hope this article doesn’t get me arrested under ISA.

Elphel Model 323 camera

Ladies and gentlemen may I introduce the
Elphel Model 323 camera. Which is the camera currently being used by Google (yes that GOOGLE!) for their Google book search project which aims to scan in 15 million books and make them accessible to the masses!

It is capable (drumroll please!) of scanning 1000 pages per hour! at 11 megapixel! I must admit the thing looks freaking cool! I mean its using a Nikon 85mm f/1.8 with what looks like an adapter to allow the use of nikon lenses on a Mamiya body?! I would love to see how it works as well as it in action!

I also applaud google for their bold effort of making information from books available to the masses, although not everyone agrees with their endeavor. But still that is absolutely one cool piece of gear!

Fujifilm Acros 100

I really should start cataloging all my film work…..I found another developed roll of film today between the pages of my many big books on the shelf.
