Operation Chiaki: Day 3

After acclimating myself  to Japan’s Autumn weather, it was important to get the All Nikko Pass since the trip is tomorrow.

This is the market I bought my supplies.

Operation Chiaki:Day 1 and 2

The flight
“Bless the lady working at the check in counter!”

That’s all I can say after landing at Narita. I checked in last night and asked for a seat up front so I would have more leg room. She informed me that all the seats at the front had already been taken but she managed to put me into a seat that would be great for sleeping.

Operation Chiaki

No use putting it off any further. I’ll be going on another long vacation since 2007. Once again I’ll be going to Japan for a second time.

Some may wonder why Japan was my choice for a long vacation again. Well a number of other locations were considered but there was that nagging feeling.

A gal’s paradise from Kino!

Thanks to fuminari for informing me about this new magazine. Its the final one for 2009.

Sweet little thing is worth the money you pay for it. It has one of the best pics of the race queens so far for this year.

(Also, please excuse the image quality here. I took them right before I went to sleep so I wasn’t in the best of moods to setup the lighting properly)

Trust me.

Trust me. Go to mac and never go back. I would know, I’m still there. ^_^

Benro-C 168-M8

Today I’ve had the fortunate luck of getting one of Benro’s carbon fiber Travel angel to review.

This is supposedly one of the lightest and strongest tripod available on the market. Benro is currently one of China well known brands among tripod makers.

Joannabelle Ng Li Vun

Today’s photo session was once again brought to you by Rog! A model session he setup last weekend.

Initially I had my doubt about joining this model shoot as it seemed that all my model shoots were not yielding any good shots at all or rather they felt sub-par to what I could have achieved.

Good Smile Company – Fate/unlimited codes – Saber Lily 1/7 Scale PVC Figure

Today’s latest figure it none other than Saber Lily by GSC who no doubt are currently rolling in dough from the skyrocket demand for their latest production which has drawn huge otakus to gladly empty their wallets or bank accounts.

No other figure has drawn such huge demand since Ryogi Shiki 1/7 also by GSC. GSC is really raking in the money this year!

Day 11, 12: The return to Tokyo and the journey home!

20th, 21th October 2007:

The morning was clear and sunny….where the hell were you yesterday? So with everything packed up, I checked out and made my way to the Kyoto central train station. My quest was on it’s last leg.

The train ride would take about 3~4 hours. It was rather enchanting to see daylight piercing through the clouds. I felt a sense of great sadness knowing that my vacation was coming to an end.

Day 10: Kanazawa also known as the marsh of gold

19th October 2007:

Well yesterday had been a very enlightening day. Today I would finally achieve my final goal in Japan, to visit the city of Kanazawa as well as the last of 3 famous landscape gardens in Japan namely Kenroku-en.

I’m sucker for beautiful landscapes. Anyway had before I set out early to increase my chance of meeting as few people as possible as well as to spend as much time as I can at today’s location.

Tragic struck when I stepped of the Ryokan I was staying at,

It was raining.

Day 9: Takayama

18th October 2007:

My original intention then was to actually take a trip to Himeji and check out the castle and stuff but reports indicate that there were a lot of people there and so my plans were amended to go to Takayama instead.

Anyway, having a grueling day before in Nara I woke in the morning with the most intense pain on my left hip. Upon inspection I discovered a rather large bruise on the area where I had been knocked down by the deer the day before. I had to rest a little longer after taking some pain killer to ease it. So I didn’t go out as early as I had hoped for but then its a good thing a lot of my plans are flexible.

Soon I departed and headed straight for the Kyoto station where I then place an order for a ticket to Takayama it would take me about 3~4 hours

Alter Choko Sennin Haruka – Shihodo Narika Choko Sennin Ver. 1/8 Scale PVC Figure

I actually made these shots last Friday but for some stupid reason, I was unable to upload them to smugmug from any Malaysian base Internet network for the past 4 days. I only managed to upload them just now using the Internet connection from my work place which happens to be using a non-Malaysian Internet provider. So yeah it’s great to use a service that is non-Malaysian.

Anyway, enough talk of useless Internet services. Today’s topic is a recent purchase I made from the Xl-shop, when I saw here, I knew I just had to get her! Previously I could have gotten Haruka as well but I was short on cash then but then I saw Narika, I knew I had to get her! Even though it meant eating bread for a few months but damn worth it!

Leng Yein and the encounter with 35mm film

Welcome ladies and gents ( I expect only Gents though, rarely have any ladies here).  I just uploaded some new shots from a model shoot I participated last weekend thank again to Cruizer176!

Once again the model is the ever so sexy Leng Yein which some of you may rememeber from my previous model session with her.

Though this time I decide I should try and give myself a challange for this model shoot in order to improve my skill and force me to think before I take a shot. I would only shoot film and only used digital if I couldn’t get the bloody correct exposure due to limited high ISO film or if I had ran out of film (only brought 5 folls that weekend).

Spotted recently at Wonder festival 2009 in Japan

A 1/4 Kos-mos resin kit figure volks which measures to about 40~50 cm judging from reports.

Ah yes! My ever lovely Kos-mos! Said to be the most beautiful physical manifestation yet ever to be made! Volks has truly outdone themselves with their pieces.

The price for this baby? Let’s see, reports put it at 50,000 YEN which about USD $500 or RM1700 ringgit unpainted and unassembled. Yes folks this darling comes to you completely bare-naked, no paint job and requires assembly!

So why would people pay for this? Its hard to say, there are many reason why they would do it but I think two word comes to mind because they are bloody crazy and it is this die hard fandom that western companies are now trying to tap into (especially their wallets) but so far have failed miserably as they cannot seem to grasp the concept of making quality stuff (what is this concept of making good quality products? China doesn’t do it, so why should I? Said the US product manager).

Anyway, what do I care what they think? We’re here to only talk about Kos-mos!

Here we have the actual unpainted but assembled figure shown on display at wonfes recently, you can very well see that she is indeed a large figure (1/4) at about 3.7 kgs.

At last I have Snowy!!!

I finally have it! The apple shop rang me up last night to let me know my copy of Snow leopard had arrived and like a snow leopard, I sprang into action (Driving like a mad man to Mid valley through after work rush hour) to pick it up!

After coming home, I proceeded to install this little gem, installation was somewhat hassle free (my macbook wouldn’t accept the DVD and kept spitting it out but I managed to get the installation going after using my external DVD player) and took about 2~3 hours which I spent playing my PS3.

I also noticed after installation that it had reclaimed 10 gigabyte of free space Sweeet! Though I haven’t noticed any speed improvement yet but I haven’t really tested it out yet (it was a working night).

YES! Snow Leopard! This 28th of August 2009!

MC223I can’t wait for it! Another good operating system! Unlike that crap Windows!

The Best day of my whole computing career was when I decided to literally toss out my windows computer out the real window and buy an Apple computer, I have never looked back since! Best use of my money on a computer EVER!

Also, I’m a sucker for snow leopards in general

How to explain DSLR to someone

Who only got into photography in hopes of taking naked women photos?
WTD782

I remember getting asked a lot, WAY a lot! Usually such people have barely the cognitive function beyond eating, sleeping and breathing. Its rather odd that once such people get a DSLR and they ask you how it works and how to use it, they then try to impress you with what they already know, which is next to nothing. Allow me to list the weird conversations I have had with people of this type.

Some street shots from Penang.

Even though I’ve moved down to KL for more than a year now, I still find myself going back to Penang to shoot street photography of all things as I did back during the few hours before bon odori 2009.

I guess there is something alluring about Penang that I cannot find in KL. The mystery or classic feel of a town that seems to encompass both new and old on one single island.

Where as in KL it feels like everything is either new or just bloody rundown, infested with sinister elements (no wait, I think that’s Putrajaya and not KL).

Whatever the reason or explanation for my feeling this way about Penang, the fact cannot be denied that Penang is indeed a wonderful place with its secret locations for anyone looking for a photography quest.

Pity though that the Penang government doesn’t seems to know how to capitualized on this especially the fact that they have attained UNESCO status (or trying to hold onto it the last I heard).

I did remember the Penang government hosting a photography competition to showscase the best of Penang sights and beauty but from what I heard and read the terms and conditions of that contest was so photographer unfriendly that many were turned off by it. It literally gave the Penang government absolute ownership of any photos submitted to the contest even the ones that didn’t win.

Happy Birthday you Dork!

Yes I know it’s rather vain to announce my own Birthday. But heck, it’s been rather slow.

So~~~
“Happy Birthday to me,
Happy Birthday to me,
Happy Birthday to me~~~~~~~,
Happy b-i-r-t-h-d-a-y tooooooo MEEEEEE~~~”
(sounds of glass breaking everywhere)

Oh my god! I’m 30 years old today!
30 years ago from this day a nerd was born!
It was obvious he would craft a great nerd destiny! Afterall, his first words were “boobs” rather than the useless “dada” or “mama”.
Okay I’m lying, it was actually “money!” but anyway, I want to thanks to all my family and friends who SMS me to wish me a Happy Birthday! (And yes Linda, I will take you up on your offer of your nude model session for me tonight, hahahahaahahaahahh)

Sometimes I wish I can spend a whole day on my hobby.

For the past few weeks I’ve been rather busy, whether it’s for work or family, I hardly have enough time for myself anymore. Anyway here is a shot I took when I was playing with my studio light set along with one of my figures.

I’ve been trying to improve my studio photography but for some reason I just can’t get myself out of this slump. It always happens around July til October.

I should have joined the guys at Ipoh for that swimsuit shoot >_< but curse my luck that work always had to kick into overdrive around that time every year. Even though I knew it would be the last big event until next year or at least until November, though it does allow me to finally go through the backlog of photos I have yet to process.

But still……I wish there was some major event.

Oh well, back to work………boo hoo

I hate Mondays and Fridays.

I hate Mondays because I have to go back and look at the crap work everyone sent me to do on Saturday when they should have sent it to me the week before and expect me to work on it over the weekend

I hate Fridays because people who should have given me the work on Monday decided to instead send it to me on Friday and expect it to be finished then while they go off on their weekend.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s Asuka open season on pre-orders!

Ah yes, Asuka Soryu Langley, or should I call her Asuka Shikinami Langley now?
